MEET THE ARTISTS Saturday 31 August 11am – 2pm including Artist Talk at 1pm. Free event. 

This multidisciplined exhibition Twisted Cliché is a reflection from time spent at a residency in France, September 2023, after both artists being awarded the Denis Diderot Grant at the Chateau d’Orquevaux Artists & Writers Residency. Jo and Warwick have created artworks that share their experience and memory from this residency. They make personal humorous comments through their artworks about people, place and everyday experiences.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY 

Jo O’Toole is a prize-winning contemporary sculptor with a background in printmaking and painting, completing a degree in Fine Art and Design at RMIT University of Melbourne and more recently she studied Sculpture completing an Advance Diploma of Fine Art at Newcastle Art School Hunter TAFE. Jo has been selected and has won several prizes for her sculpture, including Sculpture in the Vineyards Artist in Residency Award, Ford Grant Scholarship and Gosford Art Prize Booth Sculpture Award. Jo has exhibited in National exhibitions including the Montalto Sculpture Prize and Lorne Sculpture Biennale Victoria.

Warwick O’Toole has been working with timber fabrication in furniture design for over 30 years. Passionate about design, sustainability, quality and he has worked for some of Australia’s high-end product designers, before establishing his own business, Maker Furniture in 2002, where he continued to make for Australian designers such as Cult Design, Norman and Quaine, and Koskela Furniture.
