Patrick Mavety

My practice is a meditation on familiar places as well as a visual discussion about the world and how we change, alter and adulterate the spaces we inhabit.

The subsequent paintings made from plein air drawing studies and memory, are comprised of colour, line and perspective choices that would not occur from any other process. This series gave me an opportunity to stop the car, bicycle or walk to pore over a landscape, rather than to work from a photograph.

From the gum trees to the beautiful deciduous trees imported from elsewhere. From the rippling creak that flows through an altered landscape. My practice is centered around the beauty of the present and the echos of the past.
