Out there my mind empties and my soul is like a magnet, being pulled further along, around the bend, over the crest. Visuals from my surroundings are absorbed and harmonize with my internal dialogue.

Each time I journey into the wilderness, my reservoir of curiosity and exploration expands. Immersed and unbound I am free to play, evoking a sense of wonder that propels me to push artistic boundaries. Mindfully incorporating various elements from the environment, I explore unfamiliar mediums, techniques, and expressions.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Leslie Fitzsimmons is a visual artist, raised on the plains of Kansas. She received a Bachelor of Visual Art Education from the School of Arts at the University of Kansas. Soon after, Leslie relocated from her homeland to Australia, and now resides in Golden, Colorado.

The diverse landscapes Leslie’s encountered have influenced her studio approach. Themes of connection to place, symbiotic relationships with nature, and fascination with natural formations consistently weave through her work. She has attended artist residencies in the USA and continues to exhibit her work both nationally and internationally.

Leslie has over ten years of experience as an arts professional for cultural organizations in America and overseas. Currently, she is the Guest Services and Volunteer Coordinator at Foothills Art Center, and a Visual Art Educator at Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. Leslie is also on the Board of Directors for Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe.
