Sharon Taylor - Exhibition
22 October - 6 November 2022
Sharon Taylor is exhibiting Inside-out and Upside-down in Gallery 2.
Fires, floods, storms, earthquakes, viruses, recent events have had profound effects on us and the places we live. The landscape is changed with each natural event. The Pandemic has separated and isolated people from each other but also united them in the common goal to beat the virus and survive. You might say our world has been turned inside-out and upside-down.
This work explores the notion of things being literally turned upside down and inside out, but also seeing the beauty within and imagining the landscape regenerated. My favourite mountain and hill forms have been opened, flipped and sliced, revealing hidden interiors, hollows and surfaces.
Textures borrowed from nature contrast with hand drawn, printed and carved surfaces. Pieces are hand built using recycled clay and additions. Oxide and coloured slips are also used.
OPENING/MEET THE ARTIST Saturday 22 October, 11am – 5pm ALL WELCOME
