Helene Leane and Jeanne Harrison - Exhibition

Helene Leane is exhibiting “Chichester Catchment” and Jeanne Harrison is exhibiting “the abstract within” while sharing Gallery 1.

In “Chichester Catchment” Leane says “So little do we know about our endemic species that often one has to ask to receive knowledge about them. I enquired with local botanists to discover information about the flora and fauna in the Williams Valley.

In the series of monotypes I have used Scented Top Grass, Capillipedium spcigerum,  and  Weeping Lilly Pilly, Syzygium foribundum, as stencils for the basis of the print.  I have also highlighted the Long Armed FreshWater Prawn as a little known inhabitant of our rivers in the Williams valley.  The large monotype series  also draws on the shape of the Chichester River flowing into the Williams river, from Chichester Dam.”

With “the abstract within” Harrison says “The abstract works are guided, not by the eyes, but by an instinct within.  The undirected quality of creative imagination underlies my artistic journey and opens up new ways of expression.”
