Laterality brings together artists Alison Smith, Caelli Jo Brooker, and Ahn Wells for the sixth time. Their ongoing collaboration confirms the synchronicities and trusted reciprocities between the three aligned practices and remains grounded in a shared commitment to strategies of parallel creation and co-presentation.

Their new work represents significant points of deliberation and departure for the trio, as well as reflecting significant shifts in weight in terms of subject matter, material, and process. In exploring passages in and out of different forms of existence, the exhibition reveals multiple trajectories of reflection on shared processes of becoming and being, disappearance, and loss. The laterality of the exhibition title is a reminder of the paths that any journey can take – both unexpected and inevitable, and considers the unique paths of a life, story, artwork, object, or line – as contemplative, commemorative, and joyful in turns.
