MEET THE ARTIST Saturday 28 October, 11am – 2pm
After welcoming her first child in early 2023, the artist documents her own earliest memories in an attempt to preserve the stories before they are forgotten. As the artist ages and new experiences and memories are made, these recollections move to the periphery of her memory. The works then form a catalogue for the artist’s son to reference in future, almost a visual diary.
However, replicating these memories has resulted in distortions of details, particularly the faces of people whose names are no longer remembered. The faces of the people in these distant memories are abstracted and replaced with faces the artist does remember from her childhood, in this case a Power Ranger.
In the midst of the havoc in the world, the scenes Adamson depicts are a reminder that life can be a simple life, a well lived life.
